These little paintings are truly windows into another world, each holding a tiny, delicate line landscape within. They begin in the most ordinary way — with the dew from a drinking glass. I press the base onto watercolor paper, letting it leave behind soft, imperfect rings. I add paint to those watery marks and draw tiny scenes within them, turning everyday water rings into magical little doorways of new places waiting to be explored.
They’ve been so much more than just art; they’re my go-to “in-between” pieces. When I’m frustrated with bigger projects or facing tough creative blocks, escaping into these miniature worlds, even for a minute, feels like a breath of fresh air. They’ve also been valuable test subjects for new processes, teaching me everything from scanning to basic Photoshop and from making prints to creating stickers.
They truly are my little Portalscapes in every sense — playful, restorative, and full of possibility.
