Sharing a sketchbook accomplishment
I know some people won’t understand this, but I have just completed TWO of my sketchbooks from last year! Each one of these books has 80 pages in it. Each one is a moment in my life worth painting. Over the past 10 years, my sketchbooks have become a bigger part of my life and documenting my experiences. I take thousands of photos, but I can’t paint each one. So, my sketchbooks become a place to filter through the photos and pick the ones worth sharing in a way.
I always try to start a new year with a new sketchbook. And I normally go through 4 or 5 of them in a year. I have not 100% finished all of them yet. Most of them have blank pages with a note of what goes there or unfinished drawings/paintings. This year my goal has been to catch up on last year’s sketchbooks without getting behind on this year’s sketchbook. I have had to be stricter with my current sketchbook so I have a little extra time with last year's books.
I’m very excited to have 3 of the 5 completed and the 4th is close as well. The 5th one will be a doozy, as by the end of the year I’m overwhelmed with being behind in my other sketchbooks. It is mostly blank pages with a note on my intended photo reference. I’m cautiously optimistic that I will get through all 5 of last year’s sketchbooks while keeping up with this year's. It’s a bit daunting but something worth continuing.
I know many people want to see them. I am trying to figure out the best way to do that. Video? Stills?… I’m thinking about it. I will share them soon!
